A Simple Woman’s Daybook: Week #8

Posted By Miss Jocelyn Tzahala on September 29, 2008 | Category: In The Life Of A Country Girl

Ah, we went to see Fireproof yesterday and it was completely wonderful. A very profound (ahem tear-jerker) movie that I encourage young adults and couples to go see! Wow. More coming on that perhaps later.

I have so many things, questions, filling my mind lately as God keeps revealing things to me. Oh. Some times it’s hard because I know it’s just something else my flesh enjoys that I have to give up and I will. I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit though. He truly is the comforter.

The ladies at the Feelin’ Feminine site are going to be taking another challenge of wearing skirts for seven days with week, and we would love for you to join us!

Oh, and the PDFs for the last two GGM issues will be up shortly so don’t forget to go check that out!

Now for my daybook…. To participate in the meme is simple. All you do is answer the bolded questions with your own answers and then link yourself at the Simple Woman’s blog each week. You’re always welcome to check out the other ladies’ Daybooks who participated. This is a very sweet homekeeping meme that I’d encourage you to do as well.

For Today…September 29th, 2008 at 11:26am

Outside my Window…newly harvested bean fields

I am thinking…of Grandma Starr (she’s packing to move up here), of more sleep, the FIREPROOF movie (AWESOME!!!!!!!!), and the things I need to do today.

From the learning rooms…researching Victorian images for a business job I’m doing.

I am thankful for…that we finally had a YES from Great Grandma & Grandpa about being SAVED! PTL!

From the kitchen…dirty dishes and Dr.Pepper that’s calling me!

I am wearing…blue shirt, skirt, barefoot, and my green robe.

I am reading…an article submission, Men Of Iron (book exchange with Emily Rose), and my twitter

I am hoping…Wilbur will get better soon!

I am creating…a template, a project, and a post for the Feelin’ Feminine site…starting a new challenge today!

I am hearingMother Dear

Around the house…junk, we’re cleaning for Gramma

One of my favorite things…sugar cones

I am praying for…my Gramma and Auntie Jen

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…to make the cracker recipe out of the Seasons At Home magazine.

I accomplished since last week…write my GGM articles and finished my business site!! The Boutique is now open… ok there are still a few things I need to fix.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Yay! Grandma Starr is moving up here! How exiting! Will she move into your addition or find a place near you?

Yes, Fireproof was a great film! We saw it Saturday and really enjoyed it! It is so refreshing to see a film that brings glory to God (and has clean humor)!

I’m glad you are reading Men of Iron. I haven’t read the PGGTL yet, but I’ve looked through it. Thank you for letting me borrow it, I’m enjoying it!

That picture is SO cute! When we were little, we had a Jack Russel for a couple months. Her name was Becky. On one of our home videos I’m chasing her around saying, “Beekey, want a cacker?” while tossing crackers at her. She wasn’t interested.

I posted my first SWD today! :D

  5. I don’t have time to do pictures or a post, but I am joining you in wearing skirts and dresses this week! Today I am wearing a turquoise and tan striped button down shirt with a tan button down skirt that falls nearly to my ankles. I think it was designed to be just below the knee, but you know how it is being only 5′2! But I don’t mind. I like it this length!

Loved your Daybook! I did mine as well. We tried to see Fireproof, but it was sold out through tonight! That was great for the movie and sends a message to Hollywood, BUT, it was so disappointing for us! We’re going to try again this week. :-)

    Greetings Jocelyn,
Oh…I’m glad the move Fireproof was good…. I haven’t seen it yet. It looked good though.

I’ve read Men of Iron, if it is the same book I’m think of, I’m sure I’ve read it.
It was pretty good, but I liked Ivanhoe better. I enjoy most any classic old fashion literature with an adventure story….especially Medieval times. ;) But I think you already knew I was a Medieval style girl…

That is wonderful that your great grandparents said they were saved, Praise the Lord.
How fun to have your Grandma moving so close to you…I hope all goes well with the move.

Could I have some of your Dr. Pepper? That sounds good right now… I haven’t had that since summer time…

Congrats on getting your business site up and running…looks great! I’m getting ideas together for mine.

    Cute picture too!

I hope you have a nice day,

oOoh, I keep hearing great things about Fireproof. It came out on my husband’s birthday but I didn’t want to see it in the theaters since it had no closed captioning and I wanted to understand every word. I am eager to rent it as soon as it comes out on DVD, woo-hoo!

    P.S. CUTE picture!!!

I might have to do the FF challenge this time. Can you believe that I haven’t actually done it yet? I’m sure I’ve done it without realizing before; it was probably last winter. It’s so much easier to layer up and keep warm with skirts.

    Hi Jocelyn!

Thanks for the comments! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I am glad you enjoyed that video. We only had time to film each clip once, and if you know much about movie making, you know what that means! You usually need lots of redos. But it wasn’t terrible. It was a lot of fun. And a TON of work. The costumes were difficult, but the hardest thing is putting it all together on the computer (i did that) and, believe it or not, I used six or seven different music clips. And then, the quality of the picture is really bad – thats what you get when you use digital camera. We are trying to get the camcorder to connect to the pc. Oh well!

    That picture almost looks familiar…
Yes, we certainly have plenty of goats. We have 18 now – we just got a buck. We haven’t had any kids yet, but we are expecting twins from our Spanish/boer cross any day now. Taking care of them hasn’t actually been that hard. We put up electric fences and they are good about staying on the property. Right now most of them are looking really bad, because we got a case of soremouth in the herd, and it has been spreading from goat to goat the past couple weeks. Our little billy, Jason Argonaut, has got it really severe. We are praying that he will be okay. But thankfully, soremouth is like chickenpox – they can’t get it twice. Relief!

We have another dog now, an Anatolian shepherd that someone dropped off, and we spent the last two days building a chicken yard and clipping chicken wings. In that relatively short amount of time, I have quite firmly decided that I detest anything that has to do with chickes.

Ok, I am rambling. I am sure that was a lot more than you wanted to hear!

    See you later!
