20 Days of Prayer Challenge

Miss Kylie and I decided to host a 20 Day Prayer challenge, which we hope you’ll partake in. Miss Kylie wrote an article awhile back on the importance of prayer, and we hope this will start a movement that does bring the Christians to their knees in prayer.

The WORD says in Matthew 17:20 that if you simply have faith has big as a mustard seed, the smallest of all seeds, you can move a mountain. Prayer can make an impact in everyone’s life. The WORD also says that Satan has to flee at the mention of the name of Jesus, and he knows prayer is a weapon he can’t fight. Unfortunately many have truly gone blind to how powerful prayer is. We really want to encourage people, especially kids, to learn the power of prayer and to pray more.

The WORD is full of verses in regards to praying to the Lord and prayer does change things. In Philippians 4:6 it says “Don’t worry about anything; on the contrary, make your requests known to God by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving.

The Word says to pray, pray, pray, and that’s what we want to do! We want to challenge you to take the next 20 days and pray for one country. Whether it’s America or Africa or India. We also liked to encourage you to make a list of different things about that country that you’re going to prayer for.

Some key things you might pray for:
-God’s Word would reach the people
-The people would accept it
-The salvation of the people
-The leadership of the country
-The false religions to fail

We don’t want to make this challenge a chore so please don’t do this just for show. We want you to do this with a willing and loving heart towards those who are lost. We want Prayer Warriors who will be diligent in praying for those who need Jesus. The WORD says that when just one person comes to Christ all the angels celebrate.

The challenge will start on Thursday May 1st, which is the National Day of Prayer. From then until now, we hope you’ll pick a country you’d like to spend the next 20 days praying for (along with specific things about that country to pray for) and post about it on May 1st. Please just leave a comment if you’re going to join us in this fight against the forces of evil, and post about it on your blogs to spread the word.

You’re also welcome to take one of the 20 Days Of Prayer icon and put it on your site! The icons and codes are located on my sidebar. Let’s make the Gate of Hells shake as they did when Jesus rose again as King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Who’s going to join us? Sign your name/link to the list!

I’m polishing my sword to be a prayer warrior. We’ll flood the phone lines of Heaven! If there were phone lines, that is. I mean, obviously there aren’t, but if there were… something. Phooey.

You have a great day, Jocelyn!

Hi Joc ~ Thanks for your comments! I haven’t had much time for commenting lately, so I’m playing catch up. Your prayer challenge sounds like a neat idea. The past couple years I’ve really been working on my prayer life, and I’ve grown in amazing ways because of it.

Thanks for asking about my book! For now I’ve set it aside to work on a distance learning ebook. I’m not letting it go, just saving it for awhile. :-)

    Have a blessed day!
    Love,
    Mandy

This is great! I will definitely be joining you. I think I’ll be praying for America, because even though there are a lot of countries where people don’t know about Jesus, and although I think foreign missions are great, I also think there is a huge need right here where we live. I’ll put my link when I post.

    Hi Jocelyn!
Sure I’ll sign up for 20 Days of Prayer Challenge – “For when two or three come together in my name, then I’m with them” (Mathew 18:20) Yeah!

I don’t know if you’ve seen it or not, but I and Naomi (Pokadot) have put together a prayer chain, called “Prayers for the Nations”. The idea is to share what is on our hearts to pray about, and to share it with others. We are the only two people at it at the moment, but it’s been good for me to help me share what’s deep in my heart for us to be praying about. What’s on my heart for us to be praying for is the persecuted countries, the persecuted christians – the goverment of those countries. For the people who are muslims, hindus, islamic, evalutionists… Jesus prayed for us, and we need it, why shouldn’t we pray for our family who need our support and encouragement?

    Love, Jess

PS: you know how you have HTML for a graphic underneath that grapic in a box; how do you get that widget on there?
PPS: sorry this is such a loong comment!

Wow, this is a great challenge. Is it ok if I post about it on my blog after the challenge has started? I just don’t think I’m going to get a chance to post before then! And am I allowed to do my own country, or is that cheating? ;D It’s just that I know so much more about the problems here in New Zealand than those overseas…

The tshirts are so cool! The yes one is certainly needed! It’s a really great website, too.

Ah, yes, my magazine – I explained about it somewhere, but I can’t rememeber where… well, I bring out a homeschoolers writer’s magazine with a friend here in New Zealand. I’ve been doing it for about two years now, and it takes quite a bit of time to produce, hence my notable absence from HSB near the end of each month!

    Keep writing!

  24. Eyebright says:

I might not get a post done today, but I think that I will be praying for America and Europe. I know, that is more that one county, but…

I know that extremely patriotic people will hollar at me, but, our country is steadily going downhill, and MOST of the time, where America leads, the rest of the world will follow. Our country is infested with sin, it is a cancer, that hundreds of thousands of people are going to die from. A person can not turn around without looking at something ugly, without being brainwashed with worldy things, without being tempted. Many times I long to live way out in the country and have contact with only those people who want to come see me. The thing is, is that the World not only is starting to tolerate, or be okay with the things that are going on, but even accept them, or fight for their right to continue in sin! Slowly, the freedoms of Christians, and conservative people are being taken away. Children can’t speak about Christ in schools, in fact, they get in serious trouble if the even hint at the idea! People who do what the Bible commands in training, caring for, and protecting their children, are looked down upon, and children in schools are deliberately exposed to sin. As you know, homeschoolers are being threatened.

I had better stop, and you know all of this anyway. That’s why I am praying for America. It is the same thing with Europe as well, but mostly I am praying for it because it is the continent that I want to go to most. :)

Have a very bright, very cheerful day!
    (Sheesh! After all of that?)

I’m all over it. Except instead of praying for a country, God has been laying orphan children on my heart. Our pastor adopted a boy from Kazakstan and it was really sad what he went through before they got him. I met a 6-month-old African-American baby recently with no parents, no name, and no prospects. If we can pray for these kids that have no earthly person to love them and no opprotunity, who knows? Perhaps one of them will be another Joel Osteen!:)
    Thanks for doing this!
