Keeping My Eyes On Jesus

Psalm 141:7-9
7Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.

8But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

9Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.

Throughout the past several weeks and with all that has happened this week, not just with Ca-bug, I’ve learned that I just have to keep my eyes on Jesus. When fear and doubt come like huge waves in a raging storm over my spirit I must stop and listen to His gentle voice saying, “be still my child”.

As humans we often forget who indeed made the universe. He who made the skies, the stars, the seas, the fields, and the meadows. He who made the birds of the air and the beast of the fields. Our mighty Creator.

As humans we often forget who came from His seat of glory, took all of our burdens, and died on a cross, a sinner’s death. He who rose again on the third day, went to hell, took the power away from Satan. He who loves us. Our wonderful, merciful Savior.

As humans we often forget in whom we must place our trust. The one who will not leave my soul destitute because He is a faithful Lord. The One who is right by my side all the time, never failing. The One who is there to comfort me when I feel alone or afraid. The One who is there to hold my hand and say “be still”. He who is a powerful God. Ruler of All.

No matter what happens to me in this life… Whether I am to be the shoes of peace for the Body of Christ, always getting walked on and just having to toughen up, I will cling to Jesus. I cannot forget who is Lord. Jesus is Lord. I must keep my eyes on Him. Satan rejoices in the saint’s fear and doubt in Christ. I won’t let Satan have that victory. When my spirit is weak I must remember to drop to my knees and pray.

Thanks for your great post! That was a reminder that I needed today as I work through an issue – He is so BIG and GREAT and how easily I forget…so glad to hear about your little Ca-Bug! Very difficult to see those little ones sick – glad you are better too.

That is such a great post, Jocelyn. You really encouraged me. This is what my mom has been telling me when I am worried or scared or stuff: Just keep your eyes on Jesus, and don’t let the waves pull you down. Great message!

    I’m still praying for you!

    Love,

Hi Jocelyn – you’re right – it’s so important to remember who’s God – not us, by any rate! I really like this song written by Colin Buchanan – “Nothing takes God by surprise – He is sovereign – he’s in control – Nothing takes God by surprise.
In the good bits, the bad bits in all of your life, no matter what happens to you – you can be sure God is always in it, that Jesus can carry you through – yes he can”
Because he’s the ONE and ONLY God – I remember reading a book by Max Lucado; he wrote: Satan is to God what a mosquito is to an atomic bomb. Like that song “In Christ alone… Here in the Grace of God, I stand.” It is in HE that we live, and in HE that we proclaim the victory!
When I hurt my head, I just completely felt God’s peace – my heart was 100% full of it! I had this song stuck in my head the whole time – “When mountains fall, I’ll stand – by the power of your hand – and in your heart of hearts, I’ll dwell – and my soul knows very well” and it was so true – my soul did know very well that day that I was in Gods’ hands.
    Love Jessica

I agree. I have been going through a time in my life this week that has just been wearing on me. It might not even be that big for anyone else, but I know that Jesus will get me through it, and I know that he is changing me through this thing hat has been twisting me. I hope you know that so many others struggle with keeping our eyes on Jesus.
Have you heard the hymn “Turn your Eyes Upon Jesus”? The chorus goes like this:
    Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look Full in his wonderful face
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and grace.

It is such a sweet hymn, if you don’t know it I would encourage you to look it up.

I hope you and Caleb are feeling better!
    Luv,
    Miss Kitty

Thank you, Jocelyn, for commenting on my blog! I have really enjoying reading yours and your posts are insightful – they remind me a bit of my daughter who’s 17, and who you may have interacted with online (drgnfly1010). It’s a beautiful thing to witness young people, who could be caught up in the world, loving and serving the Lord Jesus.

I was looking through your categories, searching for something encouraging to read, and I found it. You don’t know how much this post helps me.

I am a major worrywart. I seriously need to lean back and let the Lord take care of the things that are in His hands anyway!

    Thanks a lot, Jocelyn.

Have a very bright, very cheerful day!

Aw, this blog was definitely uplifting. I too, am suffering from some sort of bug that has been wreaking havoc upon Northern California. I admit I set aside my bible for the past few days because I merely felt too groggy, but I’ve noticed that it has been easier for fear to consume me. So I need to pick up that Bible and read his Word, I have a feeling I’ll be better.. both physically and spiritually.

    Thank you for encouraging me!

    With Love, Martha

    Miss Jocelyn,
At many times lately I become so upset by what goes on in the USA, but then when I come to your blog and see the things you have to say, I remember that so many people aren’t allowed to say them! It is these times I realize how blessed I am to be born in the USA!
