Goooo-at-ie!
When Amanda and I went to feed the goats today one of my does, Heidi, looked like she was having a hard time walking and some other signs that she might be in labor. So I put her in the small pen with the one of the little doelings, for company, and we’ll be checking her all day. We’re still not sure who all is going to kid or when, but I’ve been keeping a watchful eye. I looked in the goat book about how to tell if a goat is pregnant or going to kid, and there really isn’t any way to tell. Sigh.
Anyway, Heidi is the doe who I had trouble with last time. She had a hard time getting the kids through the birth-canal and two of her three died, plus we think she only kidded because Chloe did so she really wasn’t ready. Please pray that if she going to kid soon the kids will be fully developed and she has an easy birth.
Her doeling, Keçi (that’s Ketch-ee), we think, is also expecting, and maybe Chloe! Oi, it has been so annoying not knowing who is going to kid or when, but late last summer or early last fall the bucks got in with the does… sigh. Mom said today we should just sell the two bucks because we’re not really using them for anything. Just pets, and they’d sell for a good price, so I am considering it! I wouldn’t mind having two less goats to feed and deal with right now, especially bucks! lol I had wanted to start breeding the does and selling the kids to the 4Hers around here, but that will have to wait. I think any kids we have this time will be sold!
I don’t know if you all heard at Amanda’s blog, but we did sell the horses. The lady is going to pick them up on Tuesday! I am grateful. Less feed. Less worry. But I will miss them. When Amanda can’t get down there in the morning or when she was sick I was in charge of them, and they respect me, and I them (when they’re not being brats! lol). Amanda posted the Homestead Carnival theme in their honour, if you wanna check it out: All About My Girls Edition
Other that news… Everyone is feeling better at the Dixon house. The only ones who didn’t have some kind of illness were Amanda and me. We had fun yesterday making clam chowder together and then IMing back and forth to each other since we got our highspeed hooked up!! Everyone was sleeping, so quietly Amanda and I were “talking” from one end of the house to the other end. Yeah, it was fun.

YAY!!! You got high speed internet! What a joy! I’m SO happy for you, isn’t it just downright fun!
That’s sad that you sold the horses, but I’m sure it was time. I know how hard it is to get rid of pets, but at least they won’t be of any trouble.
I hope all the kidding goes well!
May God Bless,

Hi Jocelyn,
My friend Emma has goats, and she always gets so excited when they kid…it’s quite funny.
Well, if I go through the IMB (which is the plan at present), I have to have an “excuse” of sorts (for the governments) to actually go over overseas and do missions. See, God has really given me a heart for countries that are closed to the gospel. Visas for those countries aren’t as easy to obtain, thus the “excuse.” :P
Yes, I think that God will provide a way for me to do missions and fund them completely. Sometimes it’s hard for me to stop and remember that, but, I’m trying to trust God more and more. :)
You’re very right. I would love to be married while I’m doing missions. :) Thank you for the reminder…sometimes it’s hard for me not to try to control my own life. Even though it *is* incredibly stupid for me to try. :) But, thank you very much for the encouragement…I appreciate it!
I did do it, but I’m not sure if I can every month…or maybe I read it wrong. I’m not sure….am I supposed to do it every month? :) But, to answer your question, no I haven’t signed the linky.
And I’m sure you and Luke’d get along. :P He’s the biggest LOTR and Tolkien freak I’ve ever met. :) He’s cool…
In Christ,
Grace

Glad everyone’s feeling better! It sounds like you and Amanda had fun IMing!
Three cheers for FEARLESSLY FEMININE! YAY! I’ll see what I can do. Maybe I can post pics of all us girls, wouldn’t that be fun! If not this month than definately next. I always wear skirts and dresses but I must admit that sometimes I dress a little frumpy or throw on any old thing.

You’re so right, Jocelyn. I think some people think all they need to do is “preach the Bible” and not worry about their attitude or approach. Some people take it as a compliment if people hate them!
Now obviously the Bible teaches that Christ is an offense, but many times there’s a reason why this kind of people is disliked.
Anyway, thanks for helping out. I’m pretty encouraged by the response so far. :)

Hi Jocelyn!

Since I just did the challenge a few weeks ago, I think I’ll pass this round. However, I’d love to have your nifty icon on my blog! Could you put it on there, pretty please? I REALLY need Kate to come over and show me how to do some things blogwise! :)
Good luck with your goats! I hope erverything goes smoothly!
Love,
Meg

I really hope every thing goes well with your goats! I remember when we had goats I was always worried something would go wrong at kidding time!
I know you already have it, but I awarded you the Excellent Blog Award.

MJ –
I’m sorry it took me so long to comment you. I haven’t commented anyone for about a week.
I saw you got your top commenters on your sidebar… I’ll have to catch up! LOL…
Glad you aren’t sick. Has it snowed at all over there?
I don’t know if I responded to your e-mail or not. I’ll have to check. My inbox is a mess!
Love,

P.S. ~ That’s awesome that you got high-speed! Yay!

Hello Miss Jocelyn,
Thank you for the compliment on my signature. I wrote it in Adobe Illustrator, then transferred it to Adobe Photoshop and saved it as a png. ;) I’m glad that you enjoy my sidebars, they’re fun to play around with. :)
Praise God that you all are feeling better!
Did you get my latest email?

Hey Jocelyn! Since you still visit our blog, I thought I’d return the favor. Lovely site you have here! The layout is simply exquisite—what program do you use to make your graphics? (I may have asked this before…or was it Nimrodel?)
You are so lucky to live on a farm! Sure, it’s a lot of work, but I’d definitely prefer it to living in the city. Must be peaceful out there where you live…
I’m sorry about you having to sell your horses, but at least they’ve found a good home! (Hopefully, anyhow…*little miss optimist*)
Anyway, keep up the great work! Your blog is so inspiring. :)
Until our paths next meet,
Tinuviel

I have not seen the masterpiece theater version of Mansfield Park but I have seen the BBC version and it was pretty good.
I am glad you all are feeling better.
I hope your goats are fine… make sure you blog whether or not they kid! LOL (Did I even have to say that?! :)
To the KING be all the glory!

Dear Jocelyn,
I saw the picture of you, your sisters and brothers behind the “Family Photo Contest” link. From what I see of the picture it looks like a nice picture, are you planing to post that picture on your blog?
I hope you have a lovely day,

Hello Jocelyn,
Thank you for the comment.
I hope your goats all kid well….
Oh, and I joined the feminine challenge, Brielle wanted me to join with her…Actually she wants me to join the League of shadows…with her of course….although I don’t do black. I declined so she’ll have to go by herself….they just recently started allowing girls to join. ;)
love your friend,

Ooooohhhhh… What can I say about those goats? I love them, but had all these
recollections about last year. I think we will be selling our bucks. Anyone
interested in buying some 1yo purebred Nubian bucks? I guess we will know by the end
of the month what kind of kids they throw, huh? ;)
I hope the girls are very pretty and colorful and the bucklings are ugly, that way
you will want to keep the doelings and have no trouble selling the bucklings!
Other than that… I sure hope they are all easy, live births! No more sleeping on
hay bales!
Of course, now we will have more hay bales since the horses are gone! :) I sure will
miss those 1 ton hay-eatin’ ornery girls!! A little, at least. hahaaa
you are such a blessing to me!
Love you!

I finally got a website, but I am still in the process of getting it up…the URL is on my blog, not that there is much to see yet…lol. :D

Yeah, that earthquake really did shake us up!! Apparently it was a 5.4 on the Richter Scale – strongest we’ve had over here for over 20 years!
Not felt anything else during today, so hoping that was all we were in for!
