Sh’ma Yisra’ĕl

Posted By Miss Jocelyn Tzahala on January 7, 2010 | Category: I Follow Yeshua HaMashyiach, The Scriptures

This is one of the most important passages of Scripture. It is a daily, hourly, renewing of our commitment to honour our covenant with Yahweh through the blood of his Son. Yahushua [Jesus] quoted and told us in Mark 12 that this is the most important of the commands and, obviously, observed it. There is great promise from Yahveh in this passage, one we can all take hold of if we listen to his instruction.

1 Now this is the mitzvah, the laws and rulings which Yahveh your Elohim ordered me to teach you for you to obey in the land you are crossing over to possess,
2 so that you will fear Yahveh your Elohim and observe all his regulations and mitzvot that I am giving you – you, your child and your grandchild – as long as you live, and so that you will have long life.
3 Therefore listen, Isra’el, and take care to obey, so that things will go well with you, and so that you will increase greatly, as Yahweh, the Elohim of your ancestors, promised you by giving you a land flowing with milk and honey.
4 “Sh’ma, Yisra’el! Yahveh Eloheinu, Yahveh echad [Hear, Isra'el! Yahveh our Elohim, Yahweh is one];
5 and you are to love Yahveh your Elohim with all your heart, all your being and all your resources.
6 These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart;
7 and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
8 Tie them on your hand as a sign, put them at the front of a headband around your forehead,
9 and write them on the door-frames of your house and on your gates.

Deuteronomy 6: 1-9

Memorize this, ponder on it, let it be always on your lips, and honour it with your entire being and follow in the steps of the Messiah and his example of the way to honour the Father. When you say it throughout your day it will remind you of who you serve and what your purpose is… and that is to esteem and be set-apart for him and him alone.

    My dad semi-recently carved some lifesize tablets of the 10 commandments and hung them in our doorway for all to see who enter our home. It’s been one of the best testimonies and witnessing tools for our family. He was asked to make about 6 more for others…even a couple for our church.

    Jocelyn,

    Again your creativity shines! These are really nice blog buttons. Thanks for sharing them with us. Where do you find the Hebrew letters? That’s a special touch.

    On a different note, I noticed recently that your posts don’t just say “Miss Jocelyn” – they say “Jocelyn Tzahala”. Is that Hebrew name new or did you just decide to share your middle name? If it’s new, can you share why you added it & how you came to choose it? Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you. If you like you can PM me at my email address below.

    Blessings,

  21. Miss Toria says:

    Hey I just realized this- the Hebrew is backwards on the buttons. You have them left-to-right instead of right-to-left: yod-hay-vav-hay instead of hay-vav-hay-yod, then read right-to-left.

    ;)

Hear, O Yisra’ĕl: יהוה our Elohim, יהוה is one!
{Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Mark 12:28-30}

Welcome

Shalom, welcome to A Pondering Heart. I hope you will be challenged by what you read here and it will cause you to search deeper and deeper into the Word of YAH. My name is Jocelyn Tzahala - I am a 19yo young woman, living in Latin America, seeking to be 'set apart as YHVH is set-apart". I want my faith to resemble that Avraham because in him YHVH found a man who would trust in him with everything and act upon his Word. My hope is that my life may be a sweet fragrance unto YHVH the MOST HIGH! HalleluYAH!Read more about me here
