Pretty Sight? Cold Fright? Or Both?

Oh  my goodness, the snow has finally reached us! No! I don’t know, I guess it was just silly wishing that winter would stay off for a few more… months! I’m not ready for snow! There was a light dusting this morning when I awoke and though how pretty the sight, the cold is too much a fright. I am not particularly fond of snow. I could do with out and so could the goats – you should see them protest not being able to go out in the field and graze! but there is a cycle of renewing that all must go through, even the earth.I used to see absolutely no point in winter. None at all. It was a very dreary, cold time of the year that I could only describe with the phrase “cooped up”. However, I began to see that in everything Yahweh has a purpose and he will be glorified in it. I began to see the spiritual aspects of winter and know that it is just a very necessary season.

Though there, at times, rage a blizzard we see no {good} end in sight, we can be assured that there will soon be a peace and calmness only Yahweh can give. Yes, perhaps the cold will linger here for awhile, even after that blizzard, but like an iron after the fire we will come out stronger in out trust in Yahweh when that spring bloom finally comes. Kate and Salomé both wrote some great articles that go along with this subject: April Showers – It’s Seasonal and Peace in a Storm. I am thankful to be continually under the Shadow of His Wings, both physically, in this warm house, and spiritually, in the promises of His Word, as the cold wind blows.

Yes, Winter. I am already sighing for Spring. But it is meant that we have 4 seasons. It’s all part of God’s plan. So I will try to stay warm and dream of my coming garden.

    Dear Jocelyn,
You are not alone in wishing the cold to go away:) I am not a fan of the cold myself (I LOVE 80 degree weather lol!) but I try and remember that it brings Spring which brings the kids, calves, chicks, kittens etc. and that is a delight to see all of God’s wonders!! Actually, Spring is coming early for us because we’ve got our calf due in January/February and goat kids from February – May. Oh dear!

Anyways! We are so blessed to be in our dear Savior’s arms while the cold winds are blowing – so true!

    Blessings,
    Jenna

The weather forecast here keeps calling for snow, but none has appeared yet. Typical for the weather here! ha! I do enjoy warm weather, but I also love seeing everything come alive again. It’s a truly beautiful sight to see!

Ahh, I love snow! We don’t usually get snow in the UK until around January and it never stays long, apart from in Scotland. The fleeting nature of it just makes me appreciate it even more. That said, I live in a seaside town and having a beach covered in snow looks bizarre!

Hope you don’t find winter too horrid, and I am so glad that Yahweh has shown you some of His purpose in winter.

I love the promise of His seasons. We’ve had snow for 2 months now, though, and our temps are in the negative, so I don’t feel the least bit sorry for you, (lol)

Oh, what I would give for just a sprinkling of snow right now! We never get snow here in central VA, however we do get plenty of rain. When I lived in Boston, the winters would be absolutely freezing, with many feet of snow piled up everywhere and the cold would begin in September and stay until April or May. In the worst of those winters it seemed like spring would never come, but eventually it did and it was all the sweeter for having waited. = )

Hello! This is my first time to your blog, and already it is an encouragement to me. Thank you. I am commenting to ask you about your goats though. I am goat crazy but I dont have alot of yard space, and my parents wont let me get any (yet (: ) But in the mean time I love to hear anything and everything about them! So would you mind if I ask some questions? How many do you have? Do they need a larg area? Are they only pets or do you also milk or anything like that? Do you reccomend any breed over others? Thank you for taking the time to put up with my nosieness. ~Kendra W.~
