The 30th Homesteading Carnival: Heart Edition

Welcome to The 30th Homesteading Carnival: Heart Edition. This is going to be a shorter carnival since everyone is busy preparing for the cold and the holiday.

Psalm 9:1 I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.

The Heart Of The Home

Proverbs 31: 25-28 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

“Over the river and through the woods to” Simple Folk’s we go! Mrs. Amy has invited everyone to take a peek into her Christmas Home. With all of her beautiful descriptions of her lovely home you can just imagine how lovely and cozy it is.

“…beeswax candles are some that I dipped in preparation for Christmas. I have them in every window with greens and holly from my garden. In the evenings, I burn them all and just love their glow. I use cranberries around the candles, as well as bowls of oranges and apples in the kitchen and a pineapple centerpiece in the dining room.”

She included a lovely slideshow so you could see what she was describing.

Kerimae @ A Happy Home also invites into the heart of her home as well to see how she’s prepared for the holiday and winter…. Come Into My House!

“These antique sleigh bells used to belong to Tom’s grandmother. When we were first married, my husband would go running all around the apartment complex jiggling them at midnight, especially under the windows of our neighbor’s children.”

Trish @ A Joyful Heart shares with us heirloom yarn and how her in-laws raised Merino sheep and how…

“Norma searched and searched for hand spinners who could spin her sheeps’ roving into yarn. After shearing, she would send the wool off to hand spinners to have it hand carded and spun. Once the roving was spun into yarn, the yarn would be sent somewhere to be hand dyed. One year Brown Sheep Company dyed her yarn; another year Koigu did it. The yarn is exceptionally beautiful.”

This is a precious post full of love, life and family. Trish also posted a picture of the wool, in full colour, and it is a sight to see. Simply beautiful!

The Heart of The Homemaker’s Kitchen

Proverbs 31: 15-16 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

Sprittibee @ Gathering Manna shares 8 Things from my Kitchen… it’s a doosey. From Meat Scissors to Stacking Bee-Hive Measuring Cups, which just seems to fit Sprittibee on her food blog.

Amanda @ My Learning Experience posted some really yumming dips: Cheesy Spinach and Artichoke Dip & Cheese Ball Dip.

“I thought I would share some of my favorite dips. I love dips. I usually make my own, but if we have the ingredients for a dip I haven’t made before I want to try it.
Here are a few I have found that I haven’t been able to try yet, but hopefully I will be able to.”

I’ve had these dips and boy are they good… with crackers, chips, and bread. Something to try when you have company or a family night.

In Texas @ Grandma Rosie’s you’ll find delicious recipes for traditional jams. Such as Sour Cherry,Cranberry, Red Raspberry or Loganberry, Red Currant, and those are just a few. Hmm… makin’ me hungry.

Lisa @ Our Little Homestead shows you how to make Banana Bread In a Jar as well as showing you how to make niffty little Coffee Spoons. These both are really fun and creative ideas. The coffee spoons are the such a cute idea for the coffee lover in your life.

Momma @ A Distinctly Different Homestead writes about making your own Homemade Seasoned Salt. Have you ever really looked at the ingredients in pre-packaged food? Such as Seasoned Salt? Well, it contains MSG, which causes one to want to eat more, but Momma won’t ever buy a store-bought MSG mix anymore… she’s made her own.

Alex @ A Quiet Little Woman has posted a wonderful recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Shortbread.

“I was dusting a bookcase I came across a “Amish” cookbook, but there was nothing amish about it besides the pictures on the front!! BUT it did have some delicious recipes in it! “

This would be a great treat to set out for guests over the holidays. It sounds delightful!

The Heart Of The Homekeeper

Titus 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Gloria @ “… no place like home” shares her good old fashioned snow storm & the day of delight.

“the blustering snow storm began a few hours ago and we have been graced with about 3 inches on the homestead. Oh, how I ladore snow! It’s blanket of white is envoloping the farm with it’s softness and beauty! We are staying warm and cozy in the home…… the girls and I are busy working on our Sabbath Eve Meal.”

She really expresses her thankfulness to the Lord for his goodness and joy.

Misty @ Simplicity is indeed trying to living in simplicity…

“I think it is time for some major changes in my life. I am thinking of my excesses, and my need to have “things” For years now, I have said that I wanted a simpler life, but I have come to one major conclusion…I sure haven’t been living like it! I took a good long look at myself, and I realized that at heart, I am a really selfish person. “

This was an excellent post written from a woman who truly wants to be a woman works with purpose and Find Freedom in A Simpler Life

The Pondering Heart

Luke 2:19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

Miss Elizabeth @ Walking In His Steps shares how she and her family celebrate Christmas in their house. “

“First to let you know, I and my family do not at all have a Christmas tree/trees. We do not decorate our house or landscape. We do not give gifts, etc. Starting the day after Thanksgiving or a few days after that (laughing), our family will start by reading the Gospels each morning until Christmas Day.”

From the mind of a fourteen-year-old young lady, she writes on what her family does for Christmas Time……

To Christmas or Not To Christmas? that is the question Jacque @ Seeking Rest In The Ancient Paths is asking and shares her thoughts on Christmas celebration. Why or why not to celebrate it or certain traditions…

“It is important to us to teach our children in the ways of the Lord. It is very important.”

Robin @ Heart of Wisdom talks about the King of the Jews: King of Kings. She says,

“At this time of year, the attention of the whole world is called to acknowledge the birth of the Savior (see my previous on the Christmas dilemma). It’s the perfect time to focus, not just on the miracle of birth, but on our King, the King of Kings!”

Robin writes about Jesus and how he is

“far different from the kings of the world who would proclaim their might….He is the King of Kings: The Name is on His Robe and Thigh as Revelation 19:16 says.

Robin goes a little bit into detail on this and “the Jewishness of Jesus”. She included her “favorite resources in the links below.” I would encourage you to check out this post. Robin Sampson writes about the Bible from a Hebraic perspective. “We miss out on so much by not understanding the Jewish culture. If you’d like to learn about our Hebrew roots read the article Our Hebrew Roots. If this whets your appetite, visit OurHebrewRoots.com.”

Thanks for joining me this week for the homesteading carnival. I hope you will check the linked posts and submit something to THC yourself. You can send your submission to: thehomesteadingcarnival@gmail.com

The 31st Homesteading Carnival will be at Seeking Rest in the Ancient Paths next… for the final week of 2007! Blessings! May the Lord bless you abundantly!

    Hello, Nimrodel here.
I was glad to get your comment, I haven’t hear from you in a while. Yes I have a graphics program, I have Photoshop Elements, it came with one of my moms cameras, we’ve had it for at least a year, but I didn’t have any interest in it until I met Tinuviel, and none of my other family members have any interest in it even now.
As for my domain, I already got it, unexpectedly, you see my uncle got me my own domain for Christmas, but I haven’t been able to put anything on it yet, I’ll tell you when I do.
