Examine Me

Posted By Miss Jocelyn Tzahala on March 7, 2009 | Category: Shabbat Shalom Praise, The Scriptures

Right after the elections I started reading the book of Isaiah the Prophet and in the very first chapter it tells of the LORD’s people turning away from Him. Seeking after other ways, peoples, idols, and rebelling. It reminded me of this nation in a great way. As I kept on reading it continued to amaze me. I came upon a verse that told the people to turn away from their evil doings and to seek the LORD’s judgment.

Judgment has become a bad thing in the lives of Believers. We don’t want our sin exposed or have to turn from our evil doings, but it is something the WORD repeatedly speaks about. It is something necessary for our lives. We cannot grow in the LORD if we will not allow ourselves to be disciplined.

King David knew the importance of judgment. He was a King and human. He needed the LORD’s judgment to keep him on the right path and to help him govern the people. King David did many wrongs and spilled much blood, but the WORD says he was truly a man after God’s own heart. The life of David is one of many lessons and one we can learn from.

Psalm 26: 1-8

Saturday Psalm & PraiseBy David: Vindicate me, ADONAI, for I have lived a blameless life; unwaveringly I trust in ADONAI.

Examine me, ADONAI, test me, search my mind and heart.

For your grace is there before my eyes, and I live my life by your truth.

I have not sat with worthless folks, I won’t consort with hypocrites,

I hate the company of evildoers, I will not sit with the wicked.

I will wash my hands in innocence and walk around your altar, ADONAI, lifting my voice in thanks and proclaiming all your wonders.

ADONAI, I love the house where you live, the place where your glory abides.

Vindicate me. Examine me. Prove me. Search my heart. Oh LORD.

Shalom Shabbat,

This was very timely Jocelyn! Yesterday I was reading in Deuteronomy, and God keeps saying over and over “Do not be afraid of them” (the Enemy) “Cast them out” “Be strong” “Utterly destroy them”. I was impressed that this is what I need to do with the sin in my life. So your post was another encouragement : )

    Amen!

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free,” John 8:32.

Isn’t it amazing how we don’t *have* to sin, but yet as humans we still do… Through Jesus Christ we have the Truth and can be free in it. If only we as a nation would turn completely and wholly to God, we could truly have freedom that would be just and pure in the sight of God. All it takes is an individual choice to serve Him from us all!

    Thanks for the reminder!

Isn’t it amazing when you pick up your Bible, and flip through and read something that totally convicts you, or something that you’ve been thinking about for days? I was reading a book the other day and it was ‘christian’ fiction and I came across a verse reference that I had been wondering about for days!

Not many people want to tell the Lord “Examine me and see if their be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting” ;O) Excellent message and so needed today.

What a wonderful revelation- I do love it when God reveals things to us like this through His word!

My favorite passage is Psalm 139, specifically verse 5:

    “You hem me in—behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me.”

It reminds me of His caressing love and tender caring, and it makes me feel so protected and cherished.

Thank You for sharing this with us. God called David “A man after God’s own Heart.” I often think about this and ask God to give me a heart that knows how to repent and seek His face.

This post is right on for today’s Christians. We all want a place in the sun to bask when we need to clean up our hearts and put on the Armour of God.It is a battle we are in and God needs Soldiers. Most of us are afraid to examine our own hearts. God is looking for a spotless bride. We need to be ready.

Awesome and convicting. This reminds me of one of my favorite sections of Scripture that I tend to use as a prayer: “Search me, O God, and know my heart. Test me, and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offense in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” I believe it’s Psalm 139:23 and 24. :)

I apologize for not having a Sat Psalm and Praise in such a long time. I do come by every Sunday morning before church and read the ones that are up. They always bring my heart into praise for the Lord before going to worship with my local Christian family.

That’s good. I’m glad that we as children of God can humble ourselves before the LORD and get it right with Him daily. Glory to God.

Shalom, welcome to A Pondering Heart. I hope you will be challenged by what you read here and it will cause you to search deeper and deeper into the Word of YAH. My name is Jocelyn Tzahala.
